Jack Dickson is a contemporary artist born in Nigeria, raised across Zambia, Scotland and England, and based in the UK. His work begins with encounter — with people and places formed across borders, between cultures, at the edges of belonging. Working in paint, drawing, collage and mixed media, he builds layered works in which background and surface carry equal weight: maps, textile patterns, partially obscured objects and coded imagery that hold a subject's geography without fixing it. His work is held in public and private collections and he appears on BBC One's Extraordinary Portraits.
