Commissions
Jack accepts a limited number of commissions each year. Every commission is developed through a collaborative process, beginning with conversation and research, and evolving into a carefully constructed composition that reflects the sitter's presence and their story.
All commissioned work is created using a combination of painting or drawing and mixed media, incorporating symbolic and narrative elements that are unique to the individual.
Due to demand and studio capacity commission are released in limited rounds throughout the year. To enquire about availability, timelines, and pricing, please get in touch with a brief outline of your request.
Jack is not currently accepting commissions. The next commissioning window opens soon.
How do I commission a piece of work?
Simply get in touch using the contact form below and Jack will get back to you to discuss the project you have in mind. To secure the commission a 50% deposit is required. The process starts with an introductory meeting where you can discuss any further thoughts and ideas about the project in detail. If it is a portrait commission this would also be a good opportunity to arrange a sitting.
A Portrait Sitting
Where possible Jack likes to meet his sitters in person (although when this isn't possible he can work from good quality photographs.) A face-to-face sitting is informal and is a wonderful opportunity for artist and sitter to get to know each other. Meeting in the sitter's environment is often more relaxing and can help Jack gain a good understanding of his subject. However meeting at the artist's studio can sometimes be a more practical option. At the sitting Jack will complete a few drawings and take several photographs that will help inform the portrait. Conversation will also help him to build a picture of the sitters "story". Sittings usually take at least two hours.
How much does it cost?
Commissions start from £1,800.
